Hen Do in Nice: A Local's Guide and 2-Day Weekend Plan

Sun, sea, good food and bars you can walk between: Nice makes hen do planning easy. I was born here and I run the Sun Bike, a beer bike that carries plenty of bride tribes along the Promenade des Anglais. Here is what I would tell a maid of honour planning a hen weekend in Nice, from when to come to a ready-made two-day plan.
Why choose Nice for a hen do?
- Everything is close: the beach, Old Nice, the Port and Place Masséna are all within walking distance, so no taxis to organise for a big group.
- Easy to reach: Nice Côte d'Azur airport has direct flights from many UK and European cities, and the tram links it to the city centre.
- Something for everyone: beach days, boat trips, nightlife and quieter plans, so the whole group can find their pace, from the bride's friends to her mum.
When to come
From May to September you get warm weather and evenings outside; July and August are the hottest and busiest. April and October are often mild and quieter, which makes a good compromise. Whatever the season, book your group activities and restaurants early if you are coming on a weekend.
Where to stay
Choose the centre so everyone can walk home. Old Nice puts you next to the bars but can be noisy at night. The area around Place Masséna and avenue Jean Médecin is practical and well connected. The Port is more local, with plenty of terraces. For a big group, a large apartment often works better than several hotel rooms: you can get ready together and have the first drink at home.
The best hen do activities in Nice
- A private beer bike ride: hire the whole Sun Bike for up to 15 people, with your own playlist and 2 karaoke mics, for about an hour through the city.
- A boat trip: from the Port, head along the coast towards Villefranche-sur-Mer and Cap Ferrat, ideal on a hot day.
- A beach club afternoon: sunbeds and lunch on the Promenade des Anglais. Book ahead for a group.
- A Niçois food tasting: socca, pissaladière and petits farcis to share in Old Nice.
- A sunset at Rauba Capeu: free, and the best group photo of the weekend.
- A night out: the pubs and cocktail bars around the Cours Saleya, or the Port for a more local feel. See our guide to a night out in Nice.
A 2-day hen weekend plan
Saturday
- Morning: coffee and the market on the Cours Saleya, then the view from Castle Hill.
- Lunch: socca and Niçois specialities in Old Nice.
- Afternoon: beach club or a swim, then get ready together.
- Around 6 pm: private Sun Bike ride from the Anantara Plaza hotel, with 6 drinks per person and socca included.
- Evening: sunset at Rauba Capeu, dinner in Old Nice, then the bars.
Sunday
- Late morning: a slow brunch near the Port.
- Afternoon: a boat trip, or a train along the coast to Villefranche-sur-Mer or Monaco.
- Before leaving: a last walk on the Promenade and the classic photo on the blue chairs.
How much does the beer bike cost?
The private tour costs €350 for the whole bike, up to 15 people, with 6 drinks per person (local beer or sangria) and socca included. That is a fixed price, or about €23 per person for a group of 15. There are also shared tours from €20 per person, or €35 with 6 drinks and socca, which suit smaller groups. Cancellation is free until departure.
Tips for the maid of honour
- Book the main activity first, then build the rest of the weekend around it.
- Collect the money early and tell everyone the budget before they book their flights.
- Do not over-plan: one or two fixed activities a day is enough in Nice.
- Think about those who do not drink: non-alcoholic drinks are available, so everyone can join in.
